Ngong Ping Cable Car starts annual servicing on 8 June,(Hong Kong, 5 May 2009)  The Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car service will be temporarily closed for about 2 weeks starting from 8 June 2009 for annual servicing and examination. “We apologise for the inconvenience that the temporary closure will cause to visitors, however we hope they understand the annual servicing and examination are a regulatory requirement to assure safety of the Cable Car system, and are essential to uphold the service reliability,” said Mr Wilson Shao, Head of Commercial and Business Development of Ngong Ping 360. “We have already advised all of our travel partners and tenants of the maintenance schedule and the information has also been posted on our website.” In addition to regular servicing, the maintenance works being undertaken in June will also include a scheduled tightening work for the haul rope. The work will be carried out by rope experts from Europe. On completion of the annual servicing, an independent ropeway surveyor, also from Europe, will conduct the annual examination of the Cable Car system. After the ropeway surveyor has put the system through all the necessary tests and checks and confirms the system to be performing satisfactorily, a service resumption date will be announced. During the annual servicing period, Ngong Ping Village will remain open. Visitors may go to the Village by bus or taxi. Another servicing period of two to three weeks will be required in September for track rope maintenance works, scheduled to be conducted this year under the stipulated maintenance regime.
